4.1 out of 5 stars 78 ratings
Edition: 1st

Considered a standard in the course, Juvinall and Marshek's, Fundamentals of Machine Component Design continues to focus on the fundamentals of component design -- free body diagrams, force flow concepts, failure theories, and fatigue design, with applications to fasteners, springs, bearings, gears, clutches, and brakes.  Problem-solving skills are developed by the implementation of a proven methodology which provides a structure for accurately formulating problems and clearly presenting solutions.  The fifth edition includes additional coverage of composites, the material selection process, and wear/wear theory, along with new and updated examples and homework problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't you have this book already?-GET it, a must buy for mechanical engineers.

At this price, the book is certainly a steal at on offer for Rs 275. The book is very well presented in terms of Topics right from the basics of SOM to the design concepts of machine components, it is well complimented with beautiful diagrams and illustrations. The book is ISV from 2006 & not printed in India, but the paper quality is too good (thick, may be high GSM). This is an excellent text for students and engineers.
Practical use of energy theorems, fatigue analysis, intro to fracture mechanics is included. Most numericals are complimented with illustrations & that is a plus point of this book also that other authors miss on, including a systematic problem solving methodology. This book needs to be complimented with other texts and references because the formulae sometimes will pop up here and there. Overall this book has superb content & also solid build and surely will come for a long time. Although there are great texts on Machine design this book can be very well paired with most of them. Highly recommend this title.

Non c'è che dire, è sicuramente il libro perfetto per iniziare la progettazione di componenti meccanici. Il prezzo è elevato per un libro del suo genere visto che in media vengono 60 euro, però si ripaga nel tempo.conciso, semplice e pratico

Required textbook for a Machine Design course. Much more accessible than Shigley's (although that is apparently a classic textbook on Machine Design - I have both). Better explanations and seemingly more thorough on the applications side compared to Shigley's.
