5.0 out of 5 stars A dense read but well worth it.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this as a Speech Language Pathologist who is re-entrying the profession after some time off. It was just what I needed! Full of up-to-date research and lots of practical ideas. The connected website is full of resources too. It's a dense read... don't think you can flick through it to find what you are looking for! But it's worth taking the time to read it. The profession can changed hugely in its approach over the past 15 years. You'll be a much better Speech Language Pathologist for reading this text book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Would Not Recommend
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book is written as if it is an argument presented to the reader. There is a statement, and then opinions supporting it from other authors, and then a takedown of why it might not be true. Gathering facts from a chapter in this book is like going on an egghunt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for speech and language therapy (SLT) specialists
The author, Caroline Bowen, is well known Australian Speech and Language pathologist, who has released a second edition of this book primarily for professionals in speech and language therapy. This book is really not intended or targeted at the casual reader, or perhaps someone wanting to get a primer on the subject due to a recent or pending diagnosis on a relative.
From that perspective, I have enlisted the help of my wife, who is a professional speech and language therapist for further comment on this book. The book contains useful case studies, covers issues relating to multi linguistics, distinction between delay and disorder, and how to manage difficult behaviour.
