About the Author

Robert W. Christopherson is Professor Emeritus of Geography, having taught 30 years at American River College, and is the author of the leading physical geography texts in the US and Canada.

He attended Cal State University-Chico, and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. His first textbook was published in 1992. His textbooks have received several national textbook awards. Also, he was recognized for excellence in teaching with the 1999 “Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award” from the National Council for Geographic Education and the “Outstanding Educator Award” from the California Geographical Society. He was selected by American River College students as "Teacher of the Year" and received the “ARC Patrons Award” for teaching. In 2009 he was elected to the Textbook and Authors Association prestigious Council of Fellows. He has spoken across the US and Canada to hundreds of colleges, groups, and at professional meetings. Robert was a key member of the Editorial Board for Goode's World Atlas, 22/E, published by Rand McNally.

Robert and his nature photographer wife, Bobbé Christopherson, completed eleven scientific expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic regions since 2003. They returned May 2 from Antarctica and an expedition northward across the Atlantic Ocean to Cape Verde Islands off the coast of Africa. On these trips they gather materials for Christopherson's physical geography textbooks.

    The book in terms of cleanliness was 4/5. The prior owner highlighted a few of the front few pages and wrote in pen, the kind of highlights that had no relevance or were really bad pen lines. Overall, I'm glad it was only a few pages.
    The book in course knowledge is absolutely great, I really do love the quality of the illustrations in detail and the words aren't so dense that you have to look up everything, topics/focuses are thoroughly separated and explained. Key concepts are highlighted and specific geography terms are put in it for you.
    I've had this book for about a year now and I travel with it only when I NEED to for heavy studying, yet it's one of the lightest texts I've ever had so you should be okay with traveling but not all the time. And the corners are beginning to fray a bit the papers are quite easy to possibly leave a hand there too long making the paper get a bit moist and crinkle the pages for example.
    If you need this for a course this source is good for this text, as an Environmental Studies major though it's helped me a lot with the foundations of Physical Geography which I'll be needing later in my major and career.
