About the authors
For Diane M. Martin Sustainable Marketing joins two life paths: A passion for nature and an almost instinctive knack for marketing. Diane has worked in marketing, in one way or another, since she was sixteen years old, paying for her own school clothes and dance lessons. As a high-schooler she sold appliances for Sears and routinely outperformed a sales force of middle-aged men. Prior to earning her PhD she owned and operated Oregon Attractions Marketing with clients that included the Oregon Zoo, Portland Art Museum and Mt. Hood Railroad. Diane's love affair with nature began in her childhood on the lush volcanic flanks of Mt. Hood, which were her playground. She is an avid backpacker whose adventurous streak once led her to spend ten days surviving in the Alaskan tundra with only three days’ worth of food and fuel. In Sustainable Marketing Diane brings her keen sense for the power of marketing to her love for the Earth’s wild places and the people that depend on their delicate balance.
John W. Schouten is a writer and a poet, who has also worked, with varying levels of distinction, as a ski instructor, a machinist, a mental health worker, an optician, a roofer, a Spanish teacher, a marketing professor and consumer researcher, and, most recently, the Canada Research Chair in Social Enterprise.
As a young man, John lived and traveled in Peru. Because of the affection he felt for the Peruvian people and their country, he vowed they would inhabit his first novel. "Notes from the Lightning God" fulfills that promise. It is the story of a young man's love affair with a country and a people, complete with all the passion, heartbreak, tenderness and terror that a love affair ultimately implies. That it is also a political thriller is a necessary reflection of the Peruvian reality during the 1980s.
"Evenings When the Sun" is his first collection of poetry.
Sustainable Marketing is John's effort, in conjunction with Diane Martin, to help redefine and remake the marketing discipline into a key part of the solution to a sustainable society and a healthy planet.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book
Verified PurchaseIf you haven't gone green personally, this book will surely turn you around. It makes you aware of the little things that destroy our world and the little things you could be doing to prevent that. It practically makes you a responsible global green citizen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smaller print than previous books
Verified PurchaseThis book was recommended for masters reading. Print is quite small but material is very good with up to date examples. Only complaint is that the text while small is also less than jet black in colour and against the paper (nice bright white), appears a little towards newspaper quality in the graphics in the books. I would buy again but the text is single lined and grey vs. black.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sustainable Marketing? You'll still not get it, but you will learn about sustainable business.
Verified PurchaseThe name does not really reflect the content, as it is about sustainable business models in general. It is of course a very topical subject, and the authors give us multiple dimensions to think about in business. A necessary read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very readable, I suggest more examples to depict any themes
Verified PurchaseAs the subject, concepts are very well explained, even for those who do not have any marketing background. However, in my opinion, it should be interesting enrich the narration with more trivia, or examples with can describe practically what the author is writing. In general, it is a good product.
