This book is a delightful "Must-read" for people who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of culture and communication. It is a captivating read, being fairly well written even though it can use better editing. The Reader is a great companion volume that I would highly recommend purchasing to read along with this volume. I feel that this book has had a positive impact on my perspective. It has also given me intellectual tools to use in communication with different cultures and settings around the world. For this reason, I treasure the information I've gleaned from the book!Communication Between Cultures

This best selling intercultural communication text gives readers an understanding and appreciation of different cultures and helps them develop practical skills for improving their communication with people from other cultures. COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CULTURES is renowned for being the only text on the market to consistently emphasize religion and history as key variables in intercultural communication. Packed with the latest research and filled with numerous, compelling examples that force readers to examine their own assumptions and cultural biases, this book helps students understand the subtle and profound ways culture affects communication. The book is divided into four interrelated parts: Part I introduces the study of communication and culture; Part II focuses on the ability of culture to shape and modify our view of reality; Part III puts the theory of intercultural communication into practice; and Part IV converts knowledge into action.

4.0 out of 5 stars Instructor Edition
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI got the book right when I was expecting. The book had black electrical tape covered by packing tape at the top of the book. The entire back cover of the book was covered by paper. After I got it all peeled off I found out that it was an instructors edition. It's the same as the student edition so it's no problem to use. Other than that the book was in excellent condition, with no tears or marks anywhere in the book. It was certainly a great buy since I was able to get it at less than half what my bookstore was charging for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Textbooks for less
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI am a single mother that goes to college and loves a deal. I always look on Amazon first for my textbook to see if they have, because 95% of the time if they have them, they are considerably less. I needed this book for school and paid a little over half what the school bookstore was asking for it!! Thank you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay Buy
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThe book was in the exact condition it was described as and I like it, but the only thing I will say is that the shipping was very long and I couldn't track the book so I was worried for a week that it had gotten lost. That's the only negative thing I can say about it, everything else was great.
