5.0 out of 5 stars MUST read for social workers
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseAs far as theory is concerned, this book really has it all. I'd rank this up there with the DSM-V as far as how essential this book is for social workers. It contains the most prominent theory one will need if they expect to do case management or primary therapy. Informative yet concise, this is probably my most valued textbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, efficient, and thorough
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis book gives a short and to-the-point description, application, and evaluation of several different theories for social work practice. I'm using it as the textbook for my Theories class in an MSW program, but I predict that I'll want to buy the book (as expensive as it is!) after the semester is over. It won't tell you how to develop good therapeutic skills, but you'll certainly better understand the theories behind different methods of practicing social work. It's easy to read and helps get information across quickly but thoroughly.
