Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseWith the death of the final of the original authors, John Swaffield, the challenge will be to ensure that any subsequent editions are as well authored. I recently bought when my 1982 version (edition 1) fell to pieces. The text is largely unchanged in the fundamentals but has, over the years, added environmental FM and, of course, CFD. It retains its original clarity although there are some editorial and printing glitches: misreferencing the occasional equation and section or example. I was also disappointed that a few pages had been spoilt by poor print quality. The larger format (18 x 24 cm) and glossy, thin paper may work for students but, for professionals using as a reference, the old black & white was better - the loss of photo quality being the main problem in B&W. So, overall, 4 stars - but only because of the production failings; 5 stars to the content.
