4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful overview of qualitative methods that covers theory and practice
Verified PurchaseThis book provides a broad overview of qualitative methods that covers all the bases, including philosophical foundations, practical tips for conducting qualitative research, and guidance for analysis using different methodological like narrative analysis and grounded theory. As someone who had very little knowledge about qualitative analysis before reading this book, I found this book very useful. I especially liked the case example that runs through the entire book. The analytic methods look superficially quite similar, but the example analysis with the same material helped to illustrate how they differ. However, it should be noted that this book is clearly aimed at students. There were some sections that are too detailed for anyone with a bit of research experience, e.g. sections on ethics and writing. Instead, I would have liked some more detail in the method section. However, the authors provide references for recommended articles on specific topics. Altogether, I think this is an excellent introduction to anyone who is new to qualitative research, especially for undergraduate students who want to use this methodology for their research projects.
