This text presents a concise coverage of the essential principles of histology, particularly suitable for the shorter medical school courses in histology. Gartner and Hiatt also author the bestselling "Color Atlas of Histology" published by LWW. This is a widely used atlas and many of the instructors who recommend this also recommend our text. It is a very readable book, heavily illustrated with high quality, three-dimensional full colour conceptual illustrations, as well as many full colour photomicrographs and high quality black and white electron micrographs.

4.0 out of 5 stars My shoulders thank you

I purchased this book as an optional reading for my histology course. I did not use it as much as might be necessary for other courses but I was influenced by the fact that it is soft cover, small and lightweight making it easier to carry, and thus more likely to be read. I have used another histology book which was concise and very readable, this one is similar except that the images are in color and there are more diagrams to illustrate the histology in addition to microscopy images.

Definitely a great book. Solid information. I bought this book for my histology classes in medical school. The only thing is that many of the pictures and descriptions are of animal (mice, monkeys, etc) histology, not human.
