This book is truly amazing in terms of its content. It covers everything in clinical medicine (albeit, a little lacking for more advanced stages of medicine) from laws and ethics to a breakdown of the major clinical areas.
The book has a decent introduction covering basic biochemistry and genetics, which are essential to grasp in preparation for the subsequent chapters.
The student consult is also a nice bonus, as it means you don't have to carry this fairly weighty book around with you.
If you are looking for a book in clinical medicine, look no further.

***2010 BMA Book Awards - First Prize - Medicine category*** "This book is comprehensive, student friendly (if still intimidating in size!) and covers such a vast breadth of knowledge. It still remains the primary 'must-have' text book of any budding doctor, or qualified one at that. This book is stunning in its breadth and in its ease of use. 5.0 out of 5 stars This book will tell you everything
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI only started using it during medical exam season. I only actually used it when my other text books didnt tell me what I wanted to know. Then I found out how good this book is. It will literally tell you anything you need to know in a concise straight forward way. Unless its strictly pathological, you will need to know some stuff, as it only touches on relevent anatomy, biochem etc, but the stuff it touches on is the stuff you need to know.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a book
Verified PurchaseIts a good book though it has a lot of topographical errors. navigation is faulty, gives wrong pages thus making it difficult to get what you want. i hope the 8th edition has better navigation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book for referencing and starting a revision topic.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseHas all the basic physiology and much of the clinical aspects of many diseases and disease processes.
One criticism is I find it often goes into too much detail then I personally require, however I must admit I believe this will change as I progress through my studies (currently a 4th year med student).
The Oxford Clinical Handbook is much more concise, however if you need to go more in-depth/ a starting point for an essay then you should refer to this text book.
4th year med student.
