I feel like the content in the lectures was given weird amounts of time- eg a lot of time was spent talking about what a mol is, but barely any time allocated to the more complex topics. Quite a few times, the lecturer also said 'you should know this from hs chem' despite chem not being a prereq. If i hadn't done hs chem, i would be completely lost. I do feel like the teaching staff were eager to help, offering drop in sessions and the tutorials were mainly about asking clarification questions. I would definitely go to those. Labs are pretty straightforward, although the lab staff don't reaaaally explain how to use anything. Be prepared to ask heaps of questions in this unit. Assessments were explained beforehand, I personally found the wording a bit confusing sometimes but other than that fine.

The unit is really good, I enjoyed it. I had a crappy lab demonstrator so be prepared because I couldn't ask questions since my lab demonstrator didn't clearly know how to explain things so it was more self-learning. The first lab was really full of calcs but the others are more chill. The tutorials are not compulsory attendance which is great, you can as questions and get the answers well explained. There are some prelabs for all labs but is like 5 easy questions. Also, there are some drop-in sessions if you want to ask Hendra any questions, he is really nice and explains things very well. Overall the content is very chill if you're good at memorising and with basic chemistry.
