I think this unit is quite easy to succeed at. There are weekly quizzes (10x 2% each, worth 20% all up) which are online and open book (I personally combined all the powerpoints into one mega ppt and just searched for keywords). Two research assignments, worth 35% +45% but you get plenty of time and they are set out clearly. I do think a fair bit of it was poorly organised though. The power points suck, i felt like they didn't really follow a logical order, and boy oh boy is it repetitive. The number of times you will have to write the same sentences over and over and over again is frightening, but necessary to get the marks. Its a good grade booster but i did not find it fun. I will say though, the unit coordinator was a sweetheart who clearly has a passion for teaching and wants you to do well.

I approached this unit in a more pessimistic manner because I have always absolutely hated statistics but oh my goodness how this turned into my favourite unit I have ever taken at uni?! The teaching staff enable you to succeed through their passion & enthusiasm as well as the incredible way this unit is structured. Each week's content builds on the previous weeks so it is so easy to follow and the assignments are easy with the help of the weekly computer labs. The tutorials solidify your learning when you apply your knowledge from the 2x 40minute lectures in the week. The weekly quizzes also help you do this, with 2 attempts each quiz setting you up to achieve the best marks possible. The way this unit has helped me in my other units and life as each study design is used in just about all research papers etc that we will use for reports, essays etc in our degrees & just out of interest is remarkable. I cannot believe how much I have learnt and the appreciation for what I have learnt. The most rewarding unit yet.

Well structured intro to biostatistics and epidemiology covering the major study designs and testing techniques. Would recommend keeping up to date with it as a lot of the material builds on previous weeks

Interesting unit with lots of content, the teaching staff really want you to succeed and make the unit pretty easy/managable.
