This unit was a big change for me and I am really glad I took the risk to do something different. The content is incredibly interesting and each of the prescribed texts were so enjoyable. I learnt a lot about my own interests (in regards to literature) and my creative writing ability. Each assessment is fun, though hot tip I did feel the marking was quite harsh for a first year unit so be sure to critically examine those weekly readings and leave post it notes on quotes in the texts you will use for your assignments. The Big Sleep, Jane Ayre and Fahrenheit 451 are fabulous novels so be sure not to miss those modules.

Such a fun unit! They changed it so that you only study one text per week instead of two, but I'd still recommend getting a head start on the novels in the break. The texts we studied were super interesting - I particularly enjoyed the module on Hard-Boiled Crime (The Big Sleep & The Monkey's Mask).

The lecturer and teachers are amazing, but some of the texts are heavy reads. You're likely to end up reading a book based on a genre you don't enjoy, which makes assignments difficult. However, the staff definitely make up for it.

It was an alright subject, lecturer and tutorial teacher was awesome but some of the books were boring and hard to do assignments on

there was too much focus on sex and the body. there is more to look at when it comes to literature than the body.
