Far better unit than ASC101 in my opinion. The assignments were not randomly updated with new information the day prior the due date. The structure of the unit was good, and although I completed it online during COVID, I found that it was easier to learn the concept as the tutor actually went through the seminar powerpoint.

Good subject, but can be a little dull at times.

The only complaint I have about this unit is that the exam was pretty terrible - a lot of the questions weren't at all related to the learning outcomes for the unit. The questions seemed to be surrounding random facts from the reading that were more interesting than they were important learning to have received throughout the unit. I felt like the exam didn't test my learning at all, but rather how many random statistics and little facts I happened to pick up while learning the important concepts. This is also coming from a student at 93% before the exam. So apart from the exam, the assignments are fairly easy as long as you put in the work.

ASC101 is preferred to be have been completed prior to this unit. Lecturer was hard to concentrate on, content is rather dry, easy workload and appropriate assessment methods

Very enjoyable unit- sometimes difficult to get your head around all the theories and concepts though once you understand the fundamental ideas it becomes a lot easier. Essays are very interesting to write which makes them easier, though the lectures are difficult to sit through because they are sometimes very bland. All the same, loved the subject!

This unit describes many sociology theories which can seem daunting, however you are only tested on this knowledge with multiple choice questions and the assignments are based around a single topic.
