I enjoyed this unit much more than I expected. Fyi I have quite a good background in maths so if it's not your strength, you will need to work really hard to do well in this unit. but you have to be serious and study to pass

This subject is a good introduction into Finance and introduces many key concepts such as time value of money and risk vs reward. The difficulty level is not very high, however many students with a weaker level of mathematics tend to find this course difficult. It's important to attend the tutorials for this course as the tutors work through the more challenging questions during these.

Really good unit to do. Doing practice quizzes will greatly help with your actual online quizzes. Class test if you prepare well is easy to score high marks but lot of people struggle for some reason. Final test is relatively easy due to cheat sheet and make sure you prepare for the theory parts as well.

A well-taught unit, with interesting and slightly challenging content. The unit convenor, Chong It Tan, explains concepts in a concise manner, however, it is sometimes challenging to understand his explanations. Online quizzes were fair and the in-class quiz was reasonable, with nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, a great unit, and would recommend to any first-year business student.

I enjoyed this unit much more than I expected. Fyi I have quite a good background in maths so if it's not your strength, you will need to work really hard to do well in this unit. The content is very straightforward, interesting and Chong It is such a brilliant, humorous and dedicated lecturer. The unit is very well-organized as well. So to do well in this unit, please (I can't stress this enough) revise the content week by week to catch up with the new materials. Don't leave everything until the last minutes. Week 2-5 are the hardest as it's all about the time value of money but once you understand it, the rest of the unit will be much easier. The new content each week is not that much so just spend at least 3 hours every week reading the book (or the slides at least), doing the practice quizzes and practice sets, then you'll totally be fine.

A very interesting and practical unit as it teaches you the basic concepts of finance such as the Time Value of Money and Annuities. However, it requires a lot of effort and sometimes I felt like there was a language barrier in lectures. You will need to do heaps of practicing (past papers and tutorial questions) if you want to do well.

The subject is very straight forward "if" you put in the effort. Most students do not do well because of the lack of effort. That is, studying in Week 12/13 before finals. It is an introduction to basic concepts in finance such as time value of money and calculating bond prices. These concepts are heavily watered down but at least it is some exposure to the financial market.
