Very heavy unit! A lot of content to remember, honestly a tough one and a big jump from Finance 1A. But if you're a Finance geek you'll love this unit as it throws u in head-on with heavy Finance theory and the cheeky CAPM. You can only do well in this unit if you actually love Finance.

I enjoyed this unit much more than I expected. Fyi I have quite a good background in maths so if it's not your strength, you will need to work really hard to do well in this unit. but you have to be serious and study to pass

The unit itself is actually very interesting and full of useful information. But the lecturer (Chris).. it's like he doesn't really care. Talking very fast, did not engage with students, disappointing.. but the textbook is pretty good

Overall, it was an interesting subject. It is important to keep up with the content as each week builds upon the next; however, my tutor was very encouraging and nice. The only weakness to the subject was that there was no feedback on the assignment.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2019

the subject was ok, difficult as expected but the lecturer is probably the worst I have had. Only interested in covering for himself. My tutor was very nice however.

Really interesting and my lecturer & tutor were ok at explaining the concepts. Keep up with the tutorial questions and you will be fine!

Useful subject for finance students. If you are not good at math and don't like number, you might want to prepare in advance or get a tutor to help

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

An excellent FINANCE unit, a step up in financial theory compared to ACST101, introduction to a few statistical concepts used in finance, and more in depth analysis in corporate finance. A great challenging unit.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2016

One of the worst run units, tute homework’s are very complex because it’s straight out of the postgrad textbook. The lecturer is too lazy to make relevant questions to the course. Actual assessment answers could be found on google by just copying the question. And half of the final exam was on accounting.

Currently doing it right now, this subject is hard. Also doing 2nd year finance units, the content for this unit is also covered in 2nd year units.
