Meyerson's book is so easy to follow and I would advise you not to sell it. It will be incredibly useful later on in your degree when you need authority for your arguments. This subject is very important to pay attention to.

Jurisprudence requires students to consider 'the law' in a new way - to look beyond the ratios of cases and rules from statute and consider the philosophy behind it all. If possible, engaging with some basic philosophers via YouTube videos or readings will provide a great springboard to contribute to class discussions and frame the readings in a more approachable way. If you engage with the content, this can be a very enjoyable subject and one in which there are plenty of marks for students willing to grapple with complex ideas.

Favourite subject thus far in law.

Warning: You're going to have a hard time in Jurisprudence if you're used to getting answers from textbooks. There is no right or wrong answer - doing well in this unit means integrating your own understanding and ideas of the law with theories and concepts you encounter throughout the subject. Great unit if you enjoy philosophical and theoretical discussions about law.

Class discussions really come alive in this subject, no matter who you have in your class. It is just that kind of subject, brings out the budding philosopher in everyone. Really enjoyed coming to class for this unit!

Very abstract! Quite hard to follow as well, particularly when Ilija was the convenor (I think it was his last year). Yarran was an incredible tutor though and spent most of the tute time helping us understand the concepts that Ilija confused us about, which he did very well. 5 stars of Yarran, 2 for the unit..

The first half of the unit was rather boring and hard to follow. I also found that it was difficult to know what they wanted in the essay. The materials in the second half were much, much better. Try to get Yarran as your tutor because I've heard that he's fantastic. PAL was also reasonably useful in this unit.

Interesting class, quite abstract. Make sure to listen at least to theory lectures as Denise gives thorough understanding of concepts throughout unit.
