To be sincere i find anything legal related to be very simple. This subject was one of the many law subjects that I have found to be very direct despite numerous complains from my fellow students. All I can say is that it requires concentration and lecture attendance

The content in this subject is quite easy to comprehend; however, there is a lot of content in the 12 weeks. I found the course well-structured; however, I would have preferred live lectures instead of lectures through iLearn.

Although this unit is really interesting, it isn't structured particularly well. For each week, there were multiple lectures to watch instead of just one. I also found that the pages of the textbook that we were told to read did not correlate with the topics we were studying (perhaps they haven't been updated in a few years). Nevertheless, it is an easy subject to do very well in.

The subject can be dry at times however some of the cases we reviewed were really interesting. The online lectures were delivered in an incredibly boring and monotone way - it was pretty obvious the lecturer was just reading from a pre prepared script which made it hard to concentrate and stay engaged.

This is a fairly easy subject to do well in but the content is super dry. The 2 hour tutorials are mainly a waste of time and generally no-one pays any attention. Just make sure you stay up to date on the weekly pre-recorded lectures. Every week there are a lot of readings set, but honestly I never really did them and I was fine, everything was explained in the echo lectures. Neil Watt is a great tutor if you can get him.

Lise Barry had structured this subject awfully. The lectures are replaced by recycled audio recordings from Lise Barry in S2, 2014. The readings were good but too much in quantity for anyone to keep up with. She was a really tough marker and a lot of my classmates were unsatisfied with her marking. Neil Watt though is a great tutor and is very polite and considerate. The new video interview was not a good assessment as there was a lot of unanswered questions and confusion, a test or assignment would of been a greater substitute.

If you are considering to practice law as a solicitor and barrister then you will probably find some usefulness in this unit in regards to understanding the ethical dilemmas you may face. However, for someone who may not see their career as a traditional lawyer, this unit can often drag on be quite bothersome. Don't be fooled by the fact that it is not a traditional law subject. While the content is not difficult to comprehend, the amount of readings, lecture recordings and tutorial activities you must prepare for is ridiculously time consuming. There is a 2 hour tutorial and so many different components to prepare for every tutorial that it ends up taking up a lot more time then necesssary. The tutorials though 2 hours managed to be bearable because the tutor (Amanda) was really engaging. The final essay worth 30% was extremely problematic. Firstly, there was not a clear essay question which was highly problematic and it asked to discuss the link between client interview skills and ethics theory. This caused a lot of wasting of time as I spend a good portion of time trying to figure out how I was meant to even structure or answer the question. The convenor told us that we could use any structure that suited us as long as we answered the question, which is what I believed I did however when feedback came back I was told I had not answered the question properly, that I dwelt on unnecessary aspects and that I needed to discuss more about the question. This really bithered me as I'd spent so long trying to structure the essay in order to precisely answer the question, only to be told I hadn't. This belief was shared by a lot of students who were extremely confused as to what the essay question wanted, and with the word limits did not make it any easier.

This unit is okay, although it is very easy to fall behind in content since there's no set lecture. Some of the assessments like the quizzes are very picky and ambiguous, so be careful with those.

Quite an easy/straightforward unit. Content can get a bit dry but ensure you keep on top of the lectures and you'll be fine. I had Emma as a tutor and her classes were enjoyable and she is really helpful. Assignments are pretty good. Nothing super difficult.
