I'm an ANTH major who took this course as an elective. PICT courses are notorious for being difficult, this is an exception. This course is straightforward with easy to understand content even if you're not from the discipline. It involves academic reading and writing, so if journal articles and essays are not your thing then this isn't for you. Ed Moore is earnest and lovely, however, he is not always the most effective lecturer. Ed's weaknesses in organising and presenting material should not impact on your ability to excel in this course though, as like I mentioned earlier, the content and assessments are very straightforward. By the same token, they're not super easy markers. Remember, this is a 300L unit, and this is an easier course in a discipline that usually has insanely high expectations. My final essay for example was brought down by a lack of depth in exploring some of my ideas and not enough critical analysis. You still need to work for that high mark.

do NOT TAKE THIS UNLESS YOU ARE GOOD AT ESSAY WRITING. i made a horrible mistake in choosing this.

Fine unit if you want to learn basic and general concepts about cyber security (there is nothing technical in this unit). The essay and article critique were quite challenging, but keeping a high score in the weekly quizzes will help you pass the unit.

Whilst good content, Ed as a convenor was not a good choice by the department. The markers for each assessment gave conflicting feedback with marks and got defensive when challenged. As Ed's first time convening, he needs to gain more organisation skills before doing so again. It was hard to engage with the content coming from a non-IT background as it was rather technical, and Ed's literal "reading" of the PowerPoint slides in each lecture proved to be a distraction and waste of time to attend. 2/10

Very enthusiastic lecturers and tutors. Interesting subject. Only wish there was more technicality from the IT side moreso than focusing solely on business practice and theory
