Reviews

Good feedback given on the essay proposal. Was very helpful.

I completed this course semester 1 2016. I found the content really interesting, and I really enjoyed writing the academic essay that replaces the typical end of semester exam. The organisation of the unit was not as smooth as other units, assessment dates were often changed and assessment information given was inconsistent at times. Despite this, I really enjoyed this unit as a whole and I am going to miss the lively tutorial discussions. Would recommend this unit for people hoping to expand their understanding of IR, the nature of the state and modern politics. 4/5 stars.

I had to do this unit as part of my major for one of my courses. I enjoyed the content very much, the topics are interesting and there are two weekly lectures and one tutorial. It was a fairly easy-going subject, if you keep up with the readings and lectures you will be fine. The research required for assessments are academic sources, my tutor stressed that a lot, particularly journal articles so dig deep! This will get you more marks. You will lose them if you don't use proper academic sources.

Shazia knew and had a passion for this subject - a pity later second year compulsory politics classes did not follow this trend .

I loved this unit. low-pressure and not much of stress I believe. I recommend you to choose it.

My lecturer and tutor were not inspirational, however the content (once you got past the theory) was reeeeaaaaally good and the assessments were simple enough. If you're into politics, you'll do quite well.
