I found the unit interesting and thought the assessments were beneficial (especially the court report, where we had to observe cases in court). My tutor (Peter Rogers) could be strict at times, but ultimately I found him to be fair, especially in terms of marking. I could tell he cared for his students and genuinely wanted us to succeed, and so he pushed us to do so. He also taught us a more accurate depiction of the legal system than I have seen before (he was honest about its faults, and challenged us to recognise and address the current issues within the system). I am glad that I stuck with the unit, and I think his teaching style effectively pushed me to work hard for good results.

Easily worst subject I've done. A 100 level subject is over complicated and made unnecessarily harder in order to mirror that of Peter Roger's ego. Expects us to be able to gain valuable information relevant to the assessment task in a days work, which really should be done over a matter of days or months instead as that reflects the actual time of court cases, and even then we have lives separate to university and cannot do this anyway. Participation is idiotically constructed and requires 300-500 words before each tutorial and yet wants you to contribute to online discussions as if you're both an external and internal student. Would not recommend at all, stay clear if you can.

Worst subject I’ve ever done

Lecturer was insane, everything was aggressive even the assessment outlines (which were in caps) he expected to much out of a first year course and the participation was ridiculous, the court observation was a massive effort to get into the city and he expected it to be done before semester break

The lecturer is too subjective (Peter Rogers). He is very arrogant and was very rude to me. His subject was not taught (structured well) well. The Court Observation was very difficult as most criminal cases go on for longer than 2 months.

Worst subject I've ever done. So much work just to gain a 20% participation mark. Lecturer isn't very nice.
