The ramblings of a lunatic, what else can I say

The second worst unit I've ever done, straight after SOC126 which is also run by Peter Rogers. He must really hate his job or something because the way he speaks to people is not okay. He is patronising and yells at people if they get up to go to another lecture (if he hasn't finished yet). Don't even think about asking him a question or sending him an email, he'll either write you back an essay of how your question was stupid, yell at you, or just ignore your email completely. If you ever pick this unit as an elective, withdraw. It's not worth the pain and suffering. Changing the unit this year from last year made it a very different course. Unfortunately tutorial participation was not an assessment item this session and resulted in the tutors turning up to some classes with only one student in them. How can people effectively engage with a unit if it's not compulsory to attend? However, as terrible as this unit was, the saving light was Katharine Hawkins. You can tell that she is very passionate about what she teaches and is such an engaging tutor. She is very approachable and couldn't help you more! Thank god for Katharine!

Peter Rodgers takes anal to a new level in this unit. During the lectures (which have roll call, if you don't go he will fail you) make sure to pay attention to administrative details he notes in between the discussion of his UK life and how amazing the UK is compared to Australia, as he will also fail you in small assessments where you don't use his templates for completion, as one example. Although he is probably intoxicated or on some form of drug during tutorials, make sure you do the readings and homework because although there is literally 0 discussion about the readings and homework, he wants to see that you have done it (again he will roll call and mark it off). I did not fail the unit but I know many that did. Be aware and attentive and if you are a gay male who pays even the slightest amount of attention to Peter, you are practically guaranteed a HD.
