Reviews

The subject deals with introductory principles of accounting and Finance and leads to the understanding of complex scenarios by developing expertise of the subject. I recommend to go through the text book, lecture slides and exercises besides tutorial questions.

Very basic with accounting theory & calculations. Past exam practices & papers are useful materials that highly recommended for practicing before taking the final one. Two of my friends got high distinction on their final results just contributing to a revision of lecture slides & materials & weekly tutorials

Very basic unit with simple calculations & formulas. The assignments were not too difficult & mainly on calculations rather than theories. In overall, this unit is recommended for first year students to grab basic knowledge in financial fields

Very difficult if you havent studied accounting before- definitely structured towards these students. the Tutors and Lecturers were nice, although inconsistent

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2017

The worst taught unit I have ever taken. The tutors vary in skill level, but the lecturer was awful when I did it.

Anonymous, Semester 2, 2015

he aim of this unit was to provide students with an understanding of financial reporting practices in accordance with selected financial reporting standards. It also examined the theories underlying these standards and practices.

Really enjoyable subject, the lecturer is a great guy and same with my tutorial teacher. As long as you keep up with the questions each week the exam is pretty easy.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2016

It's actually not that bad. It's easy to score a HD if you regularly study each week.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

Financial accounting was straightforward once you understand the basic concepts, the managerial accounting was a bit more difficult. If you've got a business mind or previously done a bit of accounting this unit should be a walk in the park.

Anonymous, Semester 1, 2015

It's elementary subject that everyone have to take if they want to get further into Finance or Accounting area. If you get the general ideas of the first 7 weeks, you will be alright. The last 5 weeks are more about theory which is more interesting.
