Tutor could really make or break this unit. I had three changes of tutors and we were so lucky that we ended up with an amazing tutor who was approachable and great at teaching/giving us sneaky accounting tips. This is such a great unit and every Commerce student needs to at least try this out even if you're not looking to major in Accounting.

This unit is definitely a step up from first year accounting, but is fairly manageable if you're good at accounting. The lecturer was fantastic at explaining each topic thoroughly and going through examples during the lecture, making it more engaging and easier to understand. Tutorial questions were very helpful in studying for the mid-sem and the exam, as well as for the assignment in the last few weeks of the semester. However, it can be pretty difficult if you have no prior accounting knowledge or found first year accounting hard. Overall, a pretty good, challenging unit, I'd definitely recommend it (unless you're completing an accounting major, then it's compulsory).

The subject deals with introductory principles of Financial accounting and core concepts and leads to the understanding of complex financial scenarios by developing expertise of the subject. I recommend to go through the text book, lecture slides and exercises besides tutorial questions.
