Passionate, friendly staff made tutorials really enjoyable. I attended very few of the lectures and did minimal reading before tutorials, my group members and I put in very little effort in the final assessment, but I still managed to get a HD. This is largely thanks to the extra tasks you can do each week to get 0.5-2% added to your mark, so I'd recommend doing those.

I took this unit as a filler elective. All of the staff involved are dedicated and passionate and very easy to communicate with. I liked that bonus marks were available but the group assignment (30%) was more stressful than all of my exams combined. Classic Arts unit with some fun and interesting content. Lectures not essential but quite interesting...readings were quite long and convoluted and I found that there was not consistent in depth discussion of the prescribed texts in my tutorial so without the bonus tasks, it felt that some of the readings and the time dedicated to them were a little pointless.

You spend your time doing quite a lot of reading and preparing for assignments per week. It was great that you can get bonus marks for the subject but really annoying that there are way too many assignments in the subject worth a small percentage. For example the major essay only ends up being worth 25%. The medieval expo was a great and different sort of assignment presentation but really frustrating if you have a group that puts in no effort as it brings your marks down. Better choose something else if you prefer to work alone.
