Essentially teaches the fundamentals to constraint programming. Decently well run subject, using a hybrid model where lectures are pre-recorded videos to be watched before the coming week, and in class activities being labs and workshops. Teaching staff are very active in online forums (Hendrick is awesome at answering student questions). Content is mainly about all the ways you can model different optimisation problems using Minizinc, with a little theory as it is a practical heavy subject. Participation marks are easy to get as they are just quizzes and exercises that submitted by the start of the next week. Exam is fair. Assignments were not the most challenging, however getting all possible marks is hard due to some parts being much more challenging to differentiate students. Overall was an OK subject, would have preferred something more interesting and theoretical to be honest though this is an IT subject not a math subject. If you found this subject interesting and want more, FIT5220 is no longer offered, so consider doing Solving Algorithms for Discrete Optimization for free on Coursera as it's basically the exact same content.
