Reviews

The content can be really heavy, since the topics are condensed into seven parts, with property and drug offences comprising most of the unit (split over three weeks!). I really enjoyed learning about the more specific criminal offences arising in the criminal justice system, such as trafficking, theft and how the defence of mental impairment applies to these crimes. I definitely recommend Dr Natalia and Dr Annegret, they were fantastic lecturers and, Dr Natalia especially, at times humorous. The content is definitely heavy and will catch up to you if you do not keep up with the weekly content, but the lectures are recorded and the tutorials occur later and provide great insight into the unit content. However, it is fairly digestible and structured step-by-step in the offences, with the offences mainly derived from the Crimes Act and Drugs Act. I enjoyed the tutorials, which I found much more interactive, however keep in mind they are significantly longer 2 hour tutorials. The lectures were extremely long, but the content is not dry. It is fairly interesting if you consider that much of law comprises crime, hence Criminal Law and Procedure 2 provides an independent, but accompanying, education to Criminal Law 1.
