Reviews

I like Olga as a lecturer and I found the course material pretty interesting - especially the stuff about motivation and inherent biases - I think it's quite a practical subject. I also enjoyed completing the assessments - a book review and self-reflections. I did not attend any of the online tutorials and still got a (low) HD, so they're certainly not a necessity. The online exam is split in MCQ, short essays and two essay questions. Make sure you leave enough time for the essays.

Olga is quite an interesting lecturer, she really goes in depth and tries to help students understand the concepts. Online tutorials were boring and tutors were atrocious at making sure students participated or understood the content. Having essays in the exam was very strange, and the need to research your own examples is quite time-consuming.

Jun is a great lecturer, though I found tutorials were rarely related to what we covered in lectures. Most of them were just practicing negotiating or roleplays, so pretty much just socialising the whole time. But assessments were easy. Oh but my friend had a very harsh tutor (I think he's called Frank, not too sure) but he marks everyone quite low even when they did a great presentation, so I suggest just moving to a different tutorial.

I don't know why the reviews are so low! I loved this subject, topics were really interesting, tutes were fun, and the lectures were only 1 hour a week! The only con is that there are a lot of assignments throughout the semester, but they're all little assignments. Two of the assessments are self-reflection so... If you have a psych background this subject is basically simplified social psychology.

Very bland subject but Brian tries to make the lectures interesting. Assignments poorly explained but try to develop learning for the unit

Very enjoyable lectures and tutorials - Brian is amazing and makes the content enjoyable. Admittedly the presentation is difficult to understand, not a lot of guidance is given. Also the content is quite random - kind of just a mix of everything business related.

did not enjoy this subject at al. lectures and tutorials were dry and boring and its definitely more of a business unit than a psychology one. if you're actually interested in business, commerce or organisational psychology it might be a good unit.
