The most enjoyable unit I have done at Monash so far! The staff were passionate and made the content so fun to learn, I looked forward to going to class every week! However, the assessments were quite harshly marked and it was not easy to do well in the unit, despite the exam being open book it was hard to complete everything on time.

Craig and Mike are one of the most passionate teaching staff I've encountered. The workshops are supposed to be fun but can be hard to follow if you're not caught up on the lectures. There are weekly quizzes completed as a group – not fun if no one in the group is familiar with the week's content but great if they are. Then there is a group info-graph – again depends on how active your group members are. The later assessments include writing an abstract, completing a (long) worksheet, and a SAQ – these are harder to do well in. The staff are surprisingly not generous markers. The exam is very intensive despite being open-book (with a safe exam browser). The exam consist of 30 MCQ and 6 SAQ worth 90 marks but you can choose which 6 SAQ you want to do out of 10 SAQ. The SAQ often sit at 5-6 marks per sub-question so there's no winging this because they are harsh markers here. Overall, if you want a fun and well organised unit with challenging assessments this is the one for you.

This unit is really well organised and has a heavy research emphasis, however they give you so many tutes and workshops to walk you through scientific writing and how to use the statistics programs, etc. Really helped me to build a strong foundation in report-writing and statistical analysis. One of the best units I've done at Monash.

Very enjoyable unit. The class time was actually so fun, I don't think I've laughed so much in any class and still learn the content well. The TAs and staff are all very helpful and want to see you succeed. The online video lectures were short but dense and covered everything you needed to know. One of my favourite physiology lints thus far.

I really enjoyed completing this unit. It's a really well run unit that provides well-made videos and revision material every week to ensure you are ready for the exam. The unit coordinators Craig and Mike are really nice and genuinely interested in delivering a great learning experience while also making the process interesting through workshops that apply the content in interesting ways. For instance, how does reproduction work in space? How do you escape a spermiogenesis escape room. This unit also allows you to make friends as you work with the same group of 4-5 people throughout the semester, that can be great if you have a good team but a nightmare if you don't. Overall a great unit, would recommend this if you are into the hormone side of physiology and pathways.

Best unit I've done in my 4 years at Monash - so much effort and consideration has been put into both the unit structure and how it's run, and it really shows. This is an example of the flipped model done right. The online modules provide in-depth insight to the content, cutting out unnecessary information but still presenting information in clear, easy to understand ways, while the activities in the modules help revise the content immediately, as well as provide SAQ practice from week one. IFATs (multiple choice tests) at the start of each workshop are great, and the workshop activities and videos (featuring Craig and Mike, absolute legends) keep everything interesting and fun. All forum posts are anonymous by default, which lessens anxiety about asking questions publicly. I'm probably not articulating it properly, but absolutely the most enjoyable and well-structured unit I've ever done at Monash - choose this over PHY2042 if you have the chance.

Hands down the best unit I've completed in my 3 years at Monash! Such a well run unit - tutors are able to keep the content interesting and the classes ares super well structured. IFATs at the beginning of workshops really help ensure you're kept up to date with the content. The way the unit was structured meant I was consistently working at the content and always revising (through workshops/quizzes etc.) and I was able to receive a 94 in the unit because of this! Definitely worth completing if you're interested in physiology!

This unit now has a flipped model so all the content is taught through online modules of which there are 2-3 a week each consisting of 2-3 8-15 minute videos. This is a major difference compared the three 1 hour lectures the unit used to be. This makes it way easier to study as well as lighten the burden of contact hours. Because the teaching time is reduced the online modules are very content heavy and you really need to learn every little bit to do well but with consistent work it is not difficult. There are also weekly IFAT quizzes that motivate you to stay on top of your work which makes it easier. There is a workshop and lab in alternating weeks. The labs were pretty standard but the workshops were really interesting and had a very interactive collaborative focus which made them really fun. The group you are placed in in your workshop is your group for the whole semester so make sure you get along. There is only one individual assessment after the first practice whilst the rest are all group. I feel this is the worst part of this unit and not necessary since group work and it’s importance is already heavily established through workshops and labs. The teaching staff for this unit are really lovely and you are easily able to see the effort gone into setting up the unit. Would absolutely recommend it, probably the best and most well rounded unit I have done at Monash so far.

Great unit with half the content being assessed at mid sem and the rest in the exam at the end! Easy to keep up with but the labs were pointless

to get the most out of this unit do PHY2042 at the same time otherwise can be a bit difficult to grasp concepts. Practicals seem to be a little bit long and repetitive but all round a pretty good unit.
