Would honestly rather I didn't have to do the subject

Super easy to get a good mark but condescending tutors and common sense content make it boring and frustrating to study for. Group presentation is pretty fun and getting to choose a topic for the assignments means you get to research something you're interested in which is cool

I did this unit in first year and I think it was fantastic for my writing skills. I found it prepared me extremely well for future assessments however I feel it would be too late to do it in second year and much less useful. Th content of the lectures was pretty dry and that made it difficult to study for the exam. If you get a good tutor for this subject as I did they can be a wealth of information and help but if you don’t i feel this unit would have been a massive waste of time.

Tutors don't help with anything despite having assignments that most science students have never done before and having to try to specialize in a subject irrelevant to your course. The marking criteria didn't help either, really vague outline of what each assignment actually entails. Went from a Distinction to Credit for going 5 words over the limit in the Literature Review.

Hated this unit. What a waste of money. Definitely needs to be a first year unit as multiple other people have said, but it doesn't seem that the faculty is listening. My tutor sucked, tutes went for way too long and were boring. Lecture content was a bit better but still most of it was common sense. Lit review was ridiculous - expected work the same quality as an actual literature review which is near impossible when A) you've never written one before, and B) you're writing on a topic that you are not specialised in.

Some of the content was interesting, might have been better as a first year unit. Make sure you do the work and the readings and watch all the lectures because almost everything can potentially be examinable. Overall pretty easy to get a decent mark!

I found it very interesting, not much content to read, and the materials provided (Moodle Textbook) are very straight-forward and valuable resources.

So much potential to be a useful unit for upcoming scientists. But the way it is run you might as well be flushing your time and money you spend on the subject down the toilet. It didn't help that my tutor sucked. Monash Uni science should seriously reconsider restructuring the unit.

Pointless unit for students not wanting to go into research but however helpful in writing reports and citations. Would massively help if it were a first year unit instead.

As long as you attend the workshops and good a really good job at the literature review... you will have no issues getting a D or a HD.
