Not a great course. Very shallow in it's exploration of historical topics.

This course encompasses a very broad sweep of European history, much of it colonial. I found the subject material interesting, and the tutorial readings generally well chosen. The lectures were not of the standard I have experienced in other history courses. Often I found them rambling, rather than crisp and focussed, which meant that the lecturer simply ran out of time, without presenting key parts of the lecture and a meaningful summation. The lectures were diminished by a disconcerting political slant which did little to encourage students to apply a more balanced and nuanced approach to the study off history.

there is lots of information to understand and high expectations for students (not a bad thing, but not a course you can pass without effort). Brilliant, expert teaching. I personally found it very engaging and enjoyable.
