This course is interesting and the knowledge acquired is helpful for all applications of English in other areas, especially for advanced writing. It's kind of fun to become aware of one's own implicit knowledge and to make it explicit and systematic. At the same time this course is packed with content and requires thorough preparation and a fair amount of independent study. The lecture notes weren't always entirely consistent, so rote learning alone is a poor crutch.

Interesting topic and relevant assignments/exam. But there was not nearly enough time dedicated to exercises - this course really should have tutorials. More time needed to be spent on certain aspects, and there was so much content that the course often felt rushed and inadequate. This course requires a lot of study outside of the classes.
