my favourite subject so far. I believe the lecturer of this course has changed hands recently, as i've only got positive things to say. whilst it did seem a bit too intellectual at first, the more i payed attention i really began to enjoy this class. the two weeks on Bourdieu gave me so much more motivation to finish this degree, through studying his theories i came to learn that our own preconceived ideas about what we can and cannot do is a bunch of rubbish. whilst we all can feel uncomfortable when we think things are out of our depth, what is "out of our depth" is simply old habits and past experiences just morphing into present thought. as someone who was feeling like a bit of an outsider due to me being the first male in my family to attend university as well as all of the other men in my family being carpenters, i felt a lot more secure about my decision to study, as well as i gained insights as to why others in my family were judgemental in regards to my study choices. I am eternally grateful to the lecturer for this course.

The course was poorly structured and the lecturer unapproachable. The University is embarrassing itself making this subject a core course.

The teacher was very rude and unapproachable

This course took some very basic concepts, put excessive jargon in to make it academic, then paraded it as intellectual, the whole time whilst critising the use of "barriers" to social situations such as jargon...
