NEUR30002 Neurophysiology Clear and Detailed Notes 2016 - H1 mark
Subject notes for UniMelb NEUR30002
Description
For NEUR30002 Neurophysiology: Neurons and Circuits I wrote brief notes in class then cleaned them up and cross-checked with references - neuroscience textbooks and internet - at a later date. As you can see I've used colours to highlight the important parts (e.g. red for keywords) and I've tried to use my own words to explain concepts simply at all times. I found this style of note taking especially conducive to writing out palm cards and revising at the end of semester as you can read through and easily pick out headings and keywords with the colour scheme. The list of topics included in these notes: - Astrocytes and Glia - Resting membrane potential - Excitatory transmission - Inhibitory ionotropic and metabotropic receptors - Action potentials - Sensory transduction - Special sensory transduction mechanisms - Measuring Neural activity - Metabotropic receptors and their modulatory roles - Postsynaptic density - Presynaptic processes - Maintenance of neuron and synapse - Autonomic nervous system (ANS) spinal reflexes - ANS baroreceptor reflex - ANS transmitters and modulators - Respiratory control of sympathetic nerve activity - ANS psychological responses - Homeostasis - Motivation - Enteric nervous system - Computational modelling - Neuropsychiatry and the gut - The gut microbiome - Injury to the nervous system - Repairing the nervous system - Long term potential, long term depression and neuroplasticity
