NUR2207 – Mental Health Clinical Practice – 2017 Learning Objectives Module 1 – Basic Counselling 1. Define the term ‘Counselling’ 2. Discuss the qualities of an effective Counsellor, including values and attitudes 3. Identify the barriers of effective counselling and how to manage and overcome the barriers for effective counselling 4. Utilise a basic counselling skills process when collaborating with the client and their carer 5.
