Fun unit and don't afraid to ask questions during tutorial. The project assessment will be quite difficult if you choose hard project.

Overall not a bad unit - but it could be taught so much better... The lecturers were very informative, but there's little to no link between the first and second half of the unit; and the expectations for that leap were set WAY too high. It was good to be taught the basics of the coding language, and it was good to learn about coding microcontrollers (something I've already had to use external to uni!); but there was a MASSIVE missing link - we effectively went form "here's how to write basic code" to "right - now make a fully functional appliance."

The coordinator's voice is very sleepy, the code's indentation sucks. The first 6 weeks are easy but the rest of the program is not even relevant and extremely hard. It's like learning to print "Hello World!" to the screen and building Google at the end of the unit!

CAB202 gives a great peek into procedural languages, as well as how computers work fundamentally on the smaller scale. It introduces bitwise arithmetic and procedural languages to effectively control a microcontroller. It can be difficult but with enough effort put into it is very rewarding.

CAB202 rewards diligent work, progressively challenging your knowledge and consumption of course material. While assignment tasks are relatively heavy in work load, students that complete it early will find themselves at an advantage if they encounter a set-back or delay due to a problem.

A very challenging unit, but for all the right reasons. If you enjoy programming, youll enjoy this unit. Did begin to leave some students behind with the microprocessor half of the unit, but isnt crazy hard if you keep on top of things.
