This unit name has been changed to Predictive Analytics. To be perfectly honest, this is one of the worst units I've taken at Swinburne, and this is my third semester already. There are many problems that I can spot in this unit. 1. The content of the unit was very poor. Every topic covered in the lectures only scratched the surface of Predictive Analytics. There would be no way that I'll be able to apply this knowledge to real-world projects. It's true that students are expected to learn and explore more on their own, but the content was still unacceptably insufficient. Most of the lecture slides were a copy of the EXACT words from only one book - Applying Predictive Analytics, and the materials for the labs were from Medium.com, which is a content-sharing platform. There are so many free online courses that offer richer content than this unit, and actually, I DID HAVE TO take some of them to be able to do the tasks in this unit. 2. The assessment requirements were very unclear. Students had to send the lecturers many emails to ask for the details, and then the lecturer had to send many announcements to provide more explanations on the requirements. The requirements should have been written more clearly in the first place. On top of that, the rubrics of the assignments were very general and vague. It is obvious that a general and vague rubric would lead to non-transparent and subjective markings. And this happened for sure. The tutors could hardly justify their markings. 3. The labs are not very helpful. Like I mentioned earlier, I had to take free online courses to understand the topics covered in lectures and labs. 4. The prerequisite of the unit should have required students to have basic knowledge/experience in Python. Some first labs did cover Python but they were just at the introductory level. Some of my teammates have no idea about Python programming and it's quite frustrating. 5. The number of tasks that we need to do was just irregularly large. I have done a portfolio-based assessment before in another unit but the requirements were not as demanding and excessive as this unit. Overall, I do not recommend anyone taking this unit.

INF8004 IT Resource Management delves into the best-practices surrounding IT resource management. As a result of this subject, I feel I have a thorough understanding and the necessary framework to effectively plan resourcing when running projects. The course has a mix of group and individual assignments and a final 2 hour exam.
