Hi, I’m Adam. I specialise in detailed essay feedback for History and Arts students who want to improve their argument, structure, use of evidence and written expression.
I’m currently taking students for Semester 2 essay support.
Most students come to me when they are already writing at a solid level but want to understand what separates a decent essay from a genuinely excellent one. If you are sitting in the H2A range and trying to move toward more consistent H1 results, I can help you identify what is holding the essay back and how to revise it more effectively.
My strongest subject areas are History, Music History, Literature and related humanities fields. I have also helped students with academic writing across a range of Arts and humanities subjects, including Politics, International Relations, Indigenous Studies, Criminology, Philosophy and Public Health. For subjects outside my own primary areas of expertise, my support is focused on structure, clarity, argumentation and expression rather than specialist content tutoring.

I do not write essays for students, but I can give detailed feedback to help you improve your own work.
How my feedback works
The way I usually work is simple:
You send me your essay question, draft, rubric or marking criteria, due date, and any previous feedback you have received.
I read the draft closely and provide comments and tracked changes.
I send the document back to you with practical suggestions for revision.
If there are specific issues you would like to discuss, such as essay structure, marker feedback or how to approach a question, we can schedule a Zoom or Google Meet call.
I usually work online rather than in person, because essay feedback is most effective when I can go through the document carefully and leave detailed comments.
My background
I have a strong academic background in History, Music History and the humanities. I completed a Master of Music by research at the University of Melbourne with a 90 WAM, and Honours with a 94 WAM. I have taught and marked undergraduate work, helped more than 50 students, and reviewed more than 200 essays. I have also published peer-reviewed academic writing and received major academic recognition, including a Global Undergraduate Award.
This means I understand both sides of the process: what students are trying to say, and what markers are often looking for.
Marks and expectations
I should note that I cannot guarantee particular marks. Final results depend on the essay, the marker, the subject, the rubric and how you revise the work after receiving feedback. What I can do is help you strengthen the essay as much as possible by identifying weaknesses in argument, structure, evidence, clarity and expression.
Rate
My rate is $70 per hour.
Before beginning, I can usually give you an estimate of how long a draft review is likely to take. Shorter essays may only need a light review, while longer or more complex essays may take more time.
