UNSW Engineering Tutor Will

Will tutored me through Term 1 of 2023 for Math1131. While I don't consider myself an HD student, Will helped me with some of the stuff that I was struggling with. Over the weeks during the tri, we went over some of the more confusing Mobius questions that I couldn't figure out even through the internet or through generative Ai chats such as chatgpt. I found his tutorials to be very helpful which was able to close the gaps in knowledge that I was having trouble with. I was able to pass the class even with being put in a supplementary exam in the first week of Tri2 due to circumstances related to the final exam. It was during the days before the supplementary exam that Will drilled me into making sure I fully understand vector geometry and the very basis of continuity and calculus. I attribute the success of me passing the class to Will. So overall he is a very good tutor.

I’ve been tutored by Will for majority of the first term in MATH1131. And I’ve gone from a student completely lost in lectures to understanding the content to a high degree. If there were any questions that Will didn’t know, he would follow up the next day with worked solutions. He has a very friendly and warm demeanour as opposed to many tutors that may approach tutoring in a more methodical and robotic manner.

I asked Will to help me prepare for a mathematics exam on very late notice. He was tremendously helpful, explaining concepts that I had struggled with the entire term to understand in just under an hour. His explanations are thorough. Instead of just presenting concepts - as is often done in lectures, Will explains each part and breaks down complex problems so that the solution seems easy and intuitive. During every session he would constantly check in to see if I was grasping the material and would accomodate the pace of teaching accordingly. He is an extremely dedicated tutor - If there were concepts that I was struggling with or didn’t have enough time to get through in the session, he would work on them outside of the session and send me useful resources to look at on my own. Will is also super friendly and encouraging! He gave me the boost of confidence to tackle the concepts I once found overwhelming, which at often times is all you need. Will is an exceptional tutor, could not recommend more!

I asked Will to tutor me in complex analysis with quite late notice. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, making sure I understood the conceptual reasoning behind each topic. I'd definitely recommend Will to others especially if you're interested in working with him throughout a term!

I've had a lot of tutors over the years but when I started tutoring with I was shocked by how attentive he is every session. Will is not only extremely knowledgeable with mathematics but he also understands how to tailor an effective explanation of the topic going into detail on the how and why, if that is required. Will has been an outstanding tutor over the past semester, couldn't recommend more.

After having not touched maths for 5 years, Will helped me go from struggling in MATH2121 to getting a HD. I went from worrying if I would pass to feeling incredibly confident and comfortable heading into the final. His explanations made abstract concepts seem intuitive and straightforward, and he had no trouble breaking down complex ideas into a way I could understand them. Will was always very prepared, having clearly done a significant amount of prep work for each session so as to deliver the best session possible. Additionally, Will is very personable and easy to get along with, which gave the sessions a nice informal vibe - perfect for tutoring. I would highly recommend Will as a tutor if you are struggling with any of the subjects he offers.

I asked Will to help me pretty late into the Semester. He was an extremely helpful, invested and dedicated tutor who went out of his way to assist me in passing my test and preparing for my final. He is a terrific and supportive tutor for anyone looking to gain a better knowledge in their course as well as attempt to grab a HD. Highly recommend!!

Will has recently begun tutoring me in maths and I'm thoroughly impressed by how invested he is! He makes sure to explain the why & how, as opposed to solely presenting the rules and has been very supportive as I navigate maths concepts that are challenging to me. I look forward to continuing our tutoring sessions.
