Hi everyone!
I am currently studying Bachelor of Commerce at Unimelb holding Commerce Global Scholarship with a WAM of 87.8. I started my degree in February 2023 and just finished the first semester for the third year of my studies.
I have 3 years of tutoring experience, tutoring VCE Mathematics (10 students), Olympiad Mathematics (30 students) and university subjects (5 students). Being a current student myself, I have recently done the following subjects, having the knowledge for all of them fresh in my mind.
The subjects that I tutor and my own score in them are:
Finance:
FNCE10002 - Principles of Finance: 100
FNCE20005 - Corporate Financial Decision Making: 94
Economics:
ECON10004 - Introductory Microeconomics: 95
ECON10005 - Quantitative Methods 1: 92
ECON10003 - Introductory Macroeconomics: 89
ECOM20001 - Econometrics 1: 87
ECON20002 - Intermediate Microeconomics: 95
ECON20001 - Intermediate Macroeconomics: 86
Computer Science:
COMP10001 - Foundations of Computing: 88
My style of teaching is to make sure you fully understand the fundamentals. I believe learning the basics well helps immensely when dealing with more complicated content in any subject. After making sure you have a concrete understanding of fundamentals, I will go through the more advanced content and include examples regularly. I never pass a topic, no matter how basic or advanced it is, until I make sure you fully understand it and able to apply it on questions. I always try to keep the content as intuitive as possible. The issue that I see quite a lot is students memorizing the content rather than trying to learn it effectively. This becomes hard or at some points impossible to do since university subjects are content heavy and memorizing is not the way to succeed in them. By keeping things engaging and at a common sense level, I aim to help you fully learn, so you can easily prepare and revise for your exams, without needing to memorize hundreds of pages of lecture slides.
In addition, I have multiple awards in international and national Mathematics Olympiads over the past 8 years giving me excellent quantitative skills which I know is crucial for these math-heavy subjects! I aim to teach these quantitative skills to you, which I believe makes acing a subject much easier.
I also respond positively to feedback, and I will adapt my teaching style to what suits you the best. I'm available 24/7 to answer your questions, especially during times of tests and exams!
I'm happy to share my academic transcript and documents of my awards.
I am happy to teach in person or online. We can conduct in person sessions either at Unimelb Parkville Campus, or a location which is easily accessible by both of us.
My hourly rate is $40/hour for individuals and $30/hour (per person) for group sessions.
