Flinders Health Tutor Maryam

Hello! I’m Maryam, a second-year Bachelor of Clinical Sciences/Doctor of Medicine student at Flinders University with a strong background in teaching and tutoring. I began tutoring in 2023 and have since worked with a myriad of students at both high school and university levels, helping them master a variety of health/science-related subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Human Physiology, etc. During my course, I have also been awarded the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation for academic excellence, and I bring that same dedication into my tutoring. My approach is highly student-centred and adaptable; I take time to understand how each student learns best, identify their specific strengths and weaknesses, and build sessions that are tailored to their needs. I focus on turning complex topics into clear, manageable steps, using techniques such as step-by-step worked examples, active recall, guided practice, and regular module-focused quizzes and mock tests to help students fully understand and retain material. I also provide exam-focused strategies, assignment guidance, and study planning, helping students manage time effectively, approach questions with confidence, and strengthen areas of weakness. My sessions aim to build not only knowledge but also skills, confidence, and independent learning habits, so students can succeed long-term. I tutor both online and in-person at Flinders University (Bedford Park or City Campus) and Flinders Medical Centre, ensuring sessions are flexible and convenient.
