UQ Health Tutor Leher
61 to 74 S2 GAMSAT, 85% on MMI, Two-Time 4th Quartile Casper Achiever
Hello all! I'm Leher and I'm an MD1 at a Group of 8 university, having received a first round CSP offer at the end of 2024. Previously, I completed a Biomedicine degree at the University of Melbourne with a First Class Honours in 2024.
My Credentials:
- Increasing from 61 to 74 in Section 2 between March and September 2023
- 2 x 4th Quartile Casper in 2024 and 2025
- 85% on my MMI with a CSP
- 17/21 of my students received admission into medical school in 2024
Section 2 Tutoring:
I increased my Section 2 score from a 61 to 74 within 2 sits in 2023 by following a simple approach that involved using personal or specific examples and broadening my horizons by linking these situations to the sociopolitical climate of the world or by exploring sociocultural dynamics that underpin human behaviour. My goal is not just to give you feedback on essays you wrote, but to help you develop an approach that can be reliably applied across a multitude of themes. I place a strong emphasis on linking themes to personal aspects of your life for strong idea generation - to produce unique thesis statements that make an essay personal to you, and thus make the essay far more engaging than if you were to simply regurgitate notes from the average Section 2 GAMSAT topics that get touted constantly (cough, neoliberalism, cough). Besides sound idea generation, I also focus on:
- Flow: Does the essay read smoothly or are the points too cyclical or disjointed?
- Content: did you rationalise the point you exclaimed with sound logic and reasoning and with applicable examples in real life?
I request students to send me 2 written essays from prompts generated by ChatGPT or the Fraser's generator 2 days before our scheduled classes.
Casper:
I have also written the Casper both in 2024 (the year I applied in, as I had applied to UNDS, UNDF and UOW) and 2025 to show my adaptability to the recent format changes. I took an empathetic, personable and problem-solving approach that yielded me a 4th Quartile score on both occasions! I teach students how to convey this same sense of empathy combined with problem-solving skills and tackling difficult conversations with stakeholders involved under time pressured conditions to allow you to perform at your best on the day. I am happy to time you and work through Casper questions in our lessons or go over your answers to questions you did in your own time.
MMIs:
With over a semester in medicine under my belt, I recognise the intricacies of the medical field and the values current and future doctors must exhibit to succeed in the profession. Having sat my interview for medicine last year, I also recognise how daunting it is to articulate yourself in front of a camera. Fortunately, I scored well on my medical school interview and I'm here to help you if you need assistance with thinking like a clinician and voicing yourself with confidence during yours!
In preparation for my interviews and a career as a future doctor, I learnt a lot about the issues plaguing Australian healthcare and the values and principles a healthcare professional must portray, which I aim to pass on to students who work with me.
What my lessons look like:
In our first lesson, I spend some time getting to know my students and introducing myself. Afterwards, I briefly discuss the crucial themes and issues in the world of medicine such as public health, rural and Indigenous health, racism and sexism in healthcare (cultural safety), power dynamics/hierarchies in medicine, and more. I will also discuss the important values and skills endemic to a healthcare professional such as empathy, education, problem solving, confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and more.
Following on from this, every session will involve answering questions made by me and other medical students that test the aforementioned themes and values. Once you complete answering, I provide extensive feedback on:
- Content: How well did you embody the values of a healthcare professional and discuss relevant themes?
- Presentation: How confident did you sound? How proficient are you at using hand gestures? Did your tone embody the emotions you were trying to channel?
- Structure: How cohesive and organised was your answer? Did it sound like a stream of consciousness that became cyclical or was it easy to follow along?
My rates for any of my services are as follows:
- Standalone lesson: $80/hr
- Booked for 5 lessons: $75/hr
- Booked for 10 lessons: $70/hr
I offer one 30-minute free trial class if you want a better idea of what your experience will be.
Keen to hear back from you, and good luck!
NOTE: I have signed a non-disclosure agreement with my medical school that prohibits me from providing any information about my own interviews.
