QUT Education Tutor Rachel
Struggling with assignments, study, or keeping up with university? Create Skills for Life offers a different approach — teaching you how to learn, not just what to learn.
This is not traditional tutoring. It’s a personalised educational therapy approach designed to strengthen the underlying skills behind learning, including comprehension, processing, memory, and subject-specific language. You’ll develop practical strategies that make study more efficient, structured, and far less overwhelming.
Students are guided to:
Organise and manage study plans and semester timelines
Reverse engineer assignments to understand exactly what’s required
Work with the language of each subject to improve clarity and performance
Use nonlinear study techniques for deeper understanding and retention
Build strong reading and comprehension skills
Apply scaffolding methods to break down complex tasks
Improve planning, time management, and exam preparation
Each program is tailored following an initial assessment, ensuring support matches individual strengths and challenges. Techniques may include structured literacy approaches (such as synthetic phonics), cognitive skill development, and sensory-based strategies — particularly beneficial for students with ADHD, dyslexia, ASD, or those who simply learn differently.
This is a skills-based intervention designed to create long-term independence, confidence, and academic success — not just short-term results.
Learn differently. Study smarter. Build skills for life.
Testimony
I would like to give you an update on my summer holidays catch up semester.
I did the remaining contracts law course that I was behind in because I failed and had to repeat.
The assessment for that term was all assignments. I used your assignment techniques and did well on my assessments.
I have never done assignments so easily and quickly before.
It was life changing and I would like to thank you so much for that.
All the work you do with me is so USEFUL.
I have passed the course very well and I also passed my other courses from semester 2. I did really well in the exams that you assisted me with.
