GAMSAT S2 Tutoring - 99th percentile scorer I'm Oscar, a first-year medical student at the University of Sydney offering GAMSAT Section 2 tutoring. I scored over 80 in Section 2, placing me around the 99th percentile. My undergraduate background was in Finance and Accounting, so I did not come from a traditional essay-writing or humanities background. I had to teach myself how to write essays that performed in the top 1% by learning exactly what GAMSAT markers are looking for, and how to produce high-quality responses efficiently while working around a demanding full-time job. Because of this, I understand that many GAMSAT students have a lot on their plate. Between Section 1, Section 3, study, work, and other commitments, it is critical to learn how to improve Section 2 in the most efficient way possible. My goal as a tutor is to help students quickly understand what makes a high-scoring essay and how to apply those principles to their own writing. My teaching style is highly individualised. I focus on understanding your writing strengths and teaching you how to play into them. I believe that writing about ideas and experiences that feel authentic and personal to you is very important for scoring well in Section 2. Our sessions will focus on identifying your competitive advantages, developing your own voice, and learning how to craft those strengths into clear, thoughtful, high-scoring essays. I can help with essay structure, idea generation, developing more sophisticated arguments, improving expression, responding to different quote themes, and building a repeatable approach that you can use under timed conditions. Tutoring is available either online or in person at the University of Sydney campus.
