Reviews

An interesting unit with lots of real life applications but very little links directly to accounting. Either that, or the lecturer failed to emphasise how the concepts link to accounting. The three online quiz's are based on MS Excel, MS Access, and Xero; and the assignment is a research task. As a result, the only part of the unit that actually examines the units contents is the final exam. The lecturer and unit-coordinator, Robyn, is extremely reluctant to help students or to answer discussion forum questions. She responds in a manner that is patronising, impatient, and often does not answer questions for days, takes a much longer time to upload material than she says, and if you ask her multiple questions in one post she will only ever answer the first one, because she is lazy and seems to favour on-campus students over off-campus/online students. Her other unit, AFM202 Cost Management, could be interesting, but a similar review of that unit by another student in 2014 indicates the same attitude by the lecturer. What could be an extremely interesting and insightful unit is ruined by an overbearing lecturer. Most of the units work is textbook learning, and many concepts are difficult to grasp, but if you can cope without the help of a good lecturer, you will enjoy and do somewhat well in this unit.
