This subject is an absolute disaster. They don't offer any lectures or tutorials, saying it's asynchronous learning or something, and basically telling us to learn it all ourselves in our own time. Given that most Arts and Cultural Management students come from an arts background, this subject doesn't provide an adequate introduction to economics and then doesn't provide opportunities for adequate help when students are rightfully confused by the subject content. Super boring, would have never done this subject in a million years if it wasn't required for my degree.

This subject examines the arts and culture as part of an economic system. Students are introduced to diverse approaches to the economic characterisation of arts and cultural production including culture as a public good, the creative industries paradigms and the role of taxation policies and private support for cultural activity. Different sectors of the arts and cultural industry will be analysed from highly commercialised free-market operations to fully government-funded structures.
