Just OK as an introduction to the architecture studio environment (which FoDR is not). A little disorientating in the vagueness and outlandish situation presented by the briefs, but asking questions usually helps. Lectures suffer from mild architectural pretension, but that basically only gets worse from here. If you're "into" ""architecture"", you might enjoy it more than I did.

Very well planned subject, content and assignments are interesting and engaging. Tutors and Lecturers are helpful and friendly. Overall a great subject however I cannot give it 5 stars due to the insane workload. In my opinion, to get an H1 in this subject most students will need to sacrifice their sleep and social life. The only way I could see someone getting an H1 while maintaining a balanced life is if they already had great sketching, rhino and modelling skills. If you don't already have a very high level of skill in all three, you will struggle. That being said, you will learn a lot in a short period of time, so at least you're getting your money's worth!

if there's ONE word to perfectly describe this course - ABSOLUTE DISASTER

We learned some interesting and transferable concepts through the lecture material which we were then expected to apply to our work in studios. This worked well and the assignments reflected the lecture theory content however overall there was way way too much work for a first year subject (going to bed at 4am and getting up at 8:30am) and marking was particularly vague and seemed quite subjective. They would get us to do work each week which we then compiled for the assessment however there was a whole week of work which we didn’t get interim feedback on for submission which got marked just as hard as the rest. Don’t take this as a breadth if you’re not doing the bachelor of design is my advice as you won’t get much sleep nor an H1.

0/5 Disaster! Nobody knows what is going on, nobody understands the assessment tasks, and nobody is taught how to do the assessments. Lectures are confusing (using big words to explain simple ideas). Assessments are super vague and convoluted. Different tutors say different thing so not really sure how one’s work can be ethically and fairly crossed mark when we all produce completely different outcomes. Sets a poor precedent for further studio subjects
