A very practical subject that gives you a good understanding of the consumer world (in AUSTRALIA) and how you as a consumer have rights. Content was interesting, time-wise it was quite intense (it is a winter intensive after all) but the open book exam makes up for it. Philip is still the coordinator - but I found attending the daily seminars to be really helpful thanks to his great attitude and love for the subject. I'd recommend students thinking of taking this subject to be really organised. Focus on building a really comprehensive list/notebook/page of information because the open book exam literally just needs you to recall the information and apply it. Lack of time was the only issue in my case, and that was just because I focused on remembering the content at the time it was given, rather than consolidating it in notes and then making it easy to reference from later. Would definitely recommend this as an interesting subject and maybe an intro into the law subjects generally!

Content was interesting and well taught, but the major assignment was poorly explained and very hard to do well in. The intensive mode is four 1.5-hour seminars for six days, which were easy to become disengaged in as the content, while interesting, had the tendency to become repetitive and dry. Possibly just an issue with the coordinator/lecturer, Phillip, but should still be noted.
