I took this subject because everyone said it was easy, but I think they changed the subject coordinator. Unfortunately I had her as my tutor and she was so strict in her marking. Most of the class got 50s to 60s. Although the subject is generally interesting I feel like I didn't receive support as her answers to questions about the assignment were mostly vague rather than focused and pointed. Don't recommend it

It's fun af and generally easy to score an H1 as long as you keep up with the key elements of each week and understand how they all connect. That isn't hard to do because the subject itself is super interesting. Lots of assessment tho but that just means more feedback and more avenues for improvement. Caitlin is an amazing tutor and coordinator and a genuinely nice person.

I didn't know this was a subject that focuses entirely on lifestyle television (the subject should probably be called Lifestyle Television & Consumer Culture instead), but it was a really interesting and engaging subject. We focused on a different lifestyle show each week, and we watched a lot of clips in lectures and tutorials so we got a pretty good understanding of each show. The assignments were not too bad but they required a lot of knowledge of theoretical concepts such as neoliberalism and cultural capital, which are the kinds of thing they refer to throughout the semester but you don't quite know what they actually mean and the initial readings you did on those topics don't give you a clear enough definition.
