LOVED this subject. definitely a wam booster. all assignments are very easy to do well in. the stem tutor, rhi, is very engaging and fun. the assignments are definitely not marked harshly, the upper quartile was almost always 95% or higher which is insane for an essay based subject. i literally only spent a couple hours the night before an assignment was due and stll did quite well.

this subject has definitely fallen off, its not what it used to be. the assignments are marked harshly, the criterias are vague and it is not a WAM booster anymore. the two hour long seminars with mandatory attendance are simply the most boring things you have to sit through, you just sit there and listen for the tutor talk for two hours. although i did enjoy my placement its only 20 hrs meaning you barely have any time to get to know the students/school.

Overall the subject is pretty monotonous and boring, especially the seminars which are not very interesting but have mandatory attendance :( David the STEM tutor is unfortunately no longer there anymore and the new STEM tutor is okay but definitely not my favourite. The placement can be pretty fun depending on which school you get allocated to/choose and how nice the teachers and kids are :) Assignments are doable but they take marks off for things that aren't specified on the rubric/criteria which is annoying

Can't recommend this subject enough! David is the best tutor I have had yet. Overall, the coordination of the subject is very organised and flexible. Placement was a fun experience to have and assignments are very easy to do well in. Although, I will agree with the other reviews about how the feedback does not really tell you how to improve. But ultimately, really recommend, even if you don't want to do teaching in the future, as it is not very time-consuming, the discussions are very relevant and engaging, and definitely a WAM booster!

Really good breadth subject! I had David as my tutor who does the STEM stream and he was super wholesome and a great tutor. The subject requires 20 hours but I know the tutors are pretty lenient so they won't be too fussed if you can get the hours in. The first assignment is a personal essay about your own school experiences. I found it pretty easy and even my tutor said it was something you can smash out in a few days. the second assignment is a group presentation about a school issue. this is pretty easy too, just make sure not to let the due date catch up to you as my group did haha. last one is a scholarly essay about your group presentation issue which is due during the exam period. overall id definitely recommend to all, even if you're not that interested in teaching. One this is that as mentioned before, feedback is a tad lacklustre, especially if essays are not your thing because they'll give you all positive feedback for anything over ~75%

Easily the best breadth I've done! Great experience if you are interested, placement looks great on your resume, and workload is very low. Only disappointment is that the marking is very artsy even in the science stream, i.e. you'll get paragraphs of completely positive feedback with nothing to improve on but still get a low H1.

The real WAM booster. I got H1 on all assignments. Sadly, I didn't get to do the placement due to Covid-19 pandemic :(

I have always been interested in teaching but I wasn't sure if I wanted to become one. This subject gave me some clear insight into what its like to be a teacher, as we had to do 20 hours of experience in a school, and I really looked forward to going into the class room every week. The assignments are easy and interesting, too. Highly recommend this subject, its a good GPA booster :)
